The Photo Expo

I went to the Photo Expo at the Dome the other day, didn't learn as much as I thought I would but I saw these two friendly girls in the coolest body art ever I was impressed!

Now this is what we call a catsuit

Now I Also Want One!

I'm seeing more and more Vespas around Joburg. Always used to think I would buy mine when I move to Cape Town...

This a 1957 model, its so purrrty!

The dude I saw on my way to the 9-5 this morning had one similar to this, looking all kinds of cool!

This one has a bit too much character but i like it

Dear Santa, Universe or whomever it may concern...

This is the Vespa I would like with a red basket at the back, matching helmet and a brown leather sling bag.
Now that the look is sorted all I need is the "gwap" to buy it...

Sebokeng Welcomes Ifani....

Street Beat used to be the home of "di hipopo" back in the day. If I were to break down my long term relationship with Hip Hop into scenes I'd say this is where we had our first real kiss... It was always buzzing with cyphers, skaters and not forgetting the smell of weed! Those were good times indeed.

Ifani went to Sebokeng to shoot his "Ewe" music video. He got a warm welcome from the locals who were really feeling his sound.

I must admit that i cant really hear what he's saying half the time but i like the song... found myself singing ewe, ewe, *click*

Check out his website http://www.disguiz.co.za/

Scars of Choice

This is the heart I wear below my rolled up sleeve.
Lerato calls them her chosen scars and always tells people to live life regret nothing...

This is Sarah she has tats for days, she belongs on Miami Ink

Thabo: he says the one on the left is the "true flow of life" understanding how life is. The bar code and ID number represent his human form. The figure on the right is taken from Leonardo Da Vinci's human anatomy painting

Ofentse is a proper addict she is always looking for her next tat design and always claims its her last...

                                                 This says Joy of life

Cynthia and her girly tatoos

Just before i got my heart engraved; i watched my brother get his 6th made it look so painless.

His name is Khotso that's why he got the peace sign... also got his star sign, birth
date and name. He doesn't have to walk around with his ID its all over his body

Joina Umzabalazo...

I first saw the Blk Jks perform a couple of years back at The Bohemian. Initially, I thought that they were an ok band I liked that they were a bunch of cute black boys pulling of the rock look (shallow I know)

Brace yourselves I'm about to go into groupie mode...

Fast-forward to 2010 I’m in love... I saw them for the first time in Cape Town earlier on this year since Bohemian days and I was blown away! Left, right and centre.... It was cool seeing white folk chanting to "Mzabalazo" I was in awe

These pictures were taken in April at The Bassline another electrifying experience

Tshepang on the drums

Lindani on Vocals and Guitar and Molefi on bass

                                                    Mpumi on guitar

Rock on type shots... I also like how they won't perform until the sound is exactly how they want it to be they don't settle i like that!

In closing... I would like to say 'am pick pick' Linda! He is the epitome of sexy; all black errthing, guitar, nice voice. Rockstar I tell you *insert heart*

Got this picture from their blog:  http://blkjks.blogspot.com/

Forever New

I walked into the Forever New store at Cresta Mall and i saw ruffles EVERYWHERE!

I like how the whole shop is dressed, its warm and inviting.

Forever New originated in Australia 2006 (maybe that's why I can't afford anything there)

We like Forever New and when this art starts paying, I'll do more than window shop and blog about them!

"Kom Khoisan kry terug jou land"

I finally got to see the "Afrikaaps" at the Tri Continental Human Rights Film Festival.

Afrikaaps started off as a play and Dylan was asked to document it. This was a learning curve for the director which made it very engaging for us as the audience because we were on this journey with him as he traced his roots and the origins of the Afrikaans language.

From what I understood the play is about coloureds reclaiming the Afrikaans language "Afrikaaps" is what they call it. Most of the people in the doccie talk about how they get looked down upon for not speaking proper Afrikaans and English. The play features coloured artists like Jitsvinger (rapper) and many more.

I thought it was very cool how they (coloureds) don’t want to apologetic of who they are and how they speak. I was on some awe ma se kinders! I must admit however, that I was one of the people who thought coloureds lack culture a lot has changed since then...

Director: Dylan Valley

More Q&As after the show

I saw a pretty bag, had to share!

The Tri Continental Film Festival is on until the 10th October 2010 at the Bioscope at Arts on Main. Very Cool place!
